چکیده

Cubic gold-platinum free-falling test masses (TMs) constitute the mirrors of future LISA and LISA-like interferometers for low-frequency gravitational wave detection in space. High-energy particles Galactic solar origin charge TMs thus induce spurious electrostatic magnetic forces that limit sensitivity these interferometers. Prelaunch Monte Carlo simulations TM charging were carried out Pathfinder (LPF) mission, was planned to instrumentation. Measurements compared during mission operations. The measured net agreed with simulation estimates, while noise three four times higher. We aim bridge gap between LPF observations. New due both FLUKA/LEI toolkit. This allowed propagating low-energy electrons down a few electronvolt. These improved agree observations gathered operations within statistical errors. induced by cosmic rays is about one thousand charges per second. value increases tens thousands second energetic particle events. Similar results are expected charging.

The LISA Pathfinder mission

In this paper, we describe the current status of the LISA Pathfinder mission, a precursor mission aimed at demonstrating key technologies for future spacebased gravitational wave detectors, like LISA. Since much of the flight hardware has already been constructed and tested, we will show that performance measurements and analysis of these flight components lead to an expected performance of the...

Detailed Calculation of Test - Mass Charging in the LISA Mission

The electrostatic charging of the LISA test masses due to exposure of the spacecraft to energetic particles in the space environment has implications in the design and operation of the gravitational inertial sensors and can affect the quality of the science data. Robust predictions of charging rates and associated stochastic fluctuations are therefore required for the exposure scenarios expecte...

The LISA PathFinder DMU and Radiation Monitor

The LISA PathFinder DMU (Data Management Unit) flight model was formally accepted by ESA and ASD on 11 February 2010, after all hardware and software tests had been successfully completed. The diagnostics items are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2010. In this paper we review the requirements and performance of this instrumentation, specially focusing on the Radiation Monitor and the DM...

the relationship between learners critical thinking ability and their performance in the reading sections of the tofel and ielts test

the study reflected in this thesis aims at finding out relationships between critical thinking (ct), and the reading sections of tofel and ielts tests. the study tries to find any relationships between the ct ability of students and their performance on reading tests of tofel and academic ielts. however, no research has ever been conducted to investigate the relationship between ct and the read...

Bridging the gap between quantum Monte Carlo and F12-methods

Tensor product approximation of pair-correlation functions opens a new route from quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) to explicitly correlated F12 methods. Thereby one benefits from stochastic optimization techniques used in QMC to get optimal pair-correlation functions which typically recover more than 85 % of the total correlation energy. Our approach incorporates, in particular, core and core-valence ...
